That's a good reason. I often wear large steel-toed boots w/ metatarsal guards on them (to protect my feet from the cattle) and the first thing I do when I get home is put on my Adidas slides and let "the dogs bark". :o)
You have to remember that in a lot of businesses, women are pretty much required to dress in a somewhat fashionable way—okay, not hyperchic like Miranda Priestly in “The Devil Wears Prada,” but in decent Brooks Brothers suits, shoes with a two- or three-inch heel, a little bit of jewelry or some quiet status symbol. This conveys that you are successful or that the company is successful and is paying you enough to buy this stuff, even if none of those things is true. Some of us have had to wear this uniform for work, and our feet HURT.
