Bingo! Drives me nuts. It is like a personal affront !
As a more “mature” woman, I was thrilled to find flip flops with good arch support....I even wear them when working out on the elliptical. I have dressier ones with rhinestones....I have a pair I found this year that look somewhat like sneakers. I love flip flops. Did you know they make them to go with a wedding dress? LOL

I hate flip flops. I especially dislike seeing people with flip flops (or any other shoe for that matter) who drag their feet when they walk! And when wearing flip flops it’s very hard NOT to appear to be dragging your feet. It also irks the crap out of me to see people wear socks with flip flops or sandals. What’s the point of wearing summer footwear with socks (usually white ones! lol) that get dirty as the day goes on? IMO, sandals with socks looks dorky as all get out to boot! Add to that I remember seeing the photo of the group of young women at the White House with President Bush and quite a few of them wearing flop flops. For me, it’s like wearing flip flops to church or wearing them when filing out a job application ~ inappropriate. Just my opinion. :~)
I’m a sandals girl too.
And I’d go barefoot in the summer when I was young, because a NY summer can be hot as hell.
lol...ok. I think I can probably disprove that theory though at least from some male flip-floppers I've met. LOL
Drop by the Philippines some time. Flip flops, or slippers, are standard dress for men and women, except for formal or business-wear. I’ve seen men carry 2 50 kilo rice sacks on their shoulders from the field, in ankle deep mud, and never take a break to adjust their slippers. They climb trees, pour concrete, climb bamboo scaffolding, herd ducks, plant rice, go to church, play basketball, ride motorcycles, you name it. If I try to wear a pair to the shower or beach, I trip over the front part and the little rubber chunk between my toes bugs me.
I’m sooo happy for your aunt and understand her not being able to get around well .. then .. Crocs. I’m not 90 but years of foot abuse led me to these ‘soles of heaven.’ ;o)
Good point on Crocs for your little ones. My little one is 20 and thinks Crocs are butt-ugly .. ‘cept for my Croc sandals.
Try one that buckles along the top. I remember seeing a few, I don’t know where. If I see one I’ll send it to you. You can pierce another hole to make it “custom”.
Croc styles aren’t all clunky - though I agree that the clunky styles are ugly. I wear a simple sandal that has saved my feet from certain complete destruction. I don’t have ugly feet or legs thankyouverymuch.
Those gold sandals sound awesome! Gonna have to get me a pair. I like metallics....’cause they go with everything. :)
Comfort rules my life.
I’m a beach bum by nature. I would rather be on a boat than on top of a mountain, and I’ve lived in both climates and know; I’ve seen me do it. Flip flops and shorts are a state of mind, I guess. I prefer lightly dressed than heavily dressed. I’ve seen people dressed in 30 pounds of clothing for 50 degree weather. I’d rather have a snowball fight in shorts.
All their black socks were dirty?
Goodness...buncha’ control issues here.
;-)
BTW: I like balding men, and I think all men should comply!
;-)
I never wear them. They’re useless for moving quickly.
