I would think death in "Sex and the City" would be all four sluts dying of AIDS but I will take this, hee hee.

The thing I don’t get about that show is Kristen Davis is the only one who is attractive. How are they supposed to be getting that much action? Are guys in NYC really that hard up?

Here's a science update for you....
Heterosexually transmitted AIDS was a myth created by gays to elicit support for funding.
It happens, but it's very rare.

I read most (all I could tolerate) of the article and it made me glad I have never watched any of it.

I don't even think she's very attractive. She's got that lazy eye that wanders around.

My exposure to this little cultural artifact is somewhat limited. But what I have seen convinces me that this is a fantasy about 4 promiscuous gay men who live lives of great irresponsibility and enjoy having frequent sex with near strangers. I guess for marketing purposes they decided to hire actresses to play the gay men. I don’t see the appeal.

I saw a couple of shows, and couldn't stomach it anymore beyond that.
The show should actually be titled..."TRAMPS and The City"

I think she is pretty decent looking, definitely the best on that show. When she was in Couples Retreat she was 4th out of 4 for the female cast.

In a way, a slight way, the concept has reminded me of a rehash of the 3 Musketeers only for gays and fugly women. Dumas forgive me.

What elevated the show way above the normal chickflick tat, and way above the films, was that it had genuine emotional truth. It sang with lines that you knew had come from real life ("How can I have this baby? I barely had time to schedule this abortion" being quite possibly my all-time favourite) Favorite. Hm. I think I know more about this reviewer now than I care to.

You got the tone down right. After the first couple of shows - years ago! They all behaved like SLUTS. I like a good series with ‘sexy’ story lines, but this was total ‘in your face’ Slutty-ness! Left a real bad taste.
Here is the complete series story line:
- Woman goes on date, has dinner, sleeps with him.
- Woman goes on date, sleeps with him.
- Woman meets guy, sleeps with him.
Same woman - but different guys!

The show is called “Sex and the City.” Yet you seem surprised that the women are sluts.

Through 2007, about 175,000 AIDS cases in the US were heterosexually transmitted. That’s about 20% of the total. Internationally, the percentage of cases with heterosexual transmission is much higher. I’m not sure “rarely” is quite the right word.

Exactly!
I saw the trailer for SIC while waiting for Robin Hood to start (if you haven’t seen Robin Hood, yet, go see it! It’s a Conservative film for Tea Partiers). Anyway, the plot of the new SIC movie seems to be that these sluts go to Abu Dhabi for more sex.
No burkas, no male escorts...I do see them wearing a hijab in a couple of scenes, but that’s about it. Lot’s of hooking up with guys, though.
Nope, this isn’t about women, this is about gay men hiring women to act out their own (the gay men’s) fantasies.
Cheers
