And everybody loves Hugo :) Deep in the back of my mind, I had this feeling that Hurley would end up protecting the island.

I had thought the last scene would be one of Jack and Locke sitting on a log on the beach looking out to sea, waiting for the next group of souls to be stranded on the island — the cycle beginning all over again. Jack as Jacob, Locke as the MIB.
