Did you ever read that Sports Illustrated piece about how Larry Bird had abandoned his daughter, Corrie Bird [by Janet Condra Bird Hargrave]?
 
For years - throughout her entire childhood - the poor girl would write him heartsick letters, begging him to come visit her, and he never replied to any of them.
 
A lot of these guys are nothing more than thugs with a gift for bouncing a basketball.
