How much longer do you plan to keep it?
If you plan to dump it soon, do the minimum.
Otherwise, replace everything that is worn. If you do, you will probably notice the car will be a lot nicer to drive than it was, because it was degrading gradually so you didn’t really notice it happening.
Only keeping it for another two months or so.
So, yes, I'm doing the minimum (just replacing the uppers).
Also, the mechanic said the lowers looked fine and recommended only the uppers be replaced.
I wouldn't think he would say this, if it were not true, since he would make twice as much $$$ to do all four.
Maybe the lower one didn't get too damaged (or damaged at all?) when the upper one failed.
I wasn't going very fast when it happened, unless 30mph is considered fast.
