Um no...the narco traffickers are the exiled Medellin Cartel operating on the borders. Mexico City is safe because the narcos are smart enough to stay out of there.
A bunch of yahoos in the border states on the Mexican side are on the payroll of the Medellin, they are the ones that populate La Raza and the like. Then there are the ones on the US side.
Mexico is a country of contrasts. Need to unite conservatives there with conservatives here and rid the border regions on both sides of the narcos.
Some advocate drug legalization, I don’t. Narco deprived of their illicit drug trade will resort to extortion, prostitution, controlling provinces by controlling politicians and judges. They are like the Al Capones of today.
A war with Mexico will only make matters worse.
A point I often make to those who endorse legalization of drugs is that people who are in the illegal drug trade are not people who want to deal drugs and that happen to be doing something illegal. They are first and foremost criminals. Criminals choose the high risk/high profit of doing something illegal rather than working 8-5.
You can’t legalize all drugs. These same criminals will simply push the drugs that are still illegal, or will illegally traffic the legalized drugs (which are sure to be very expensive) at a lower cost.
Or they will do as you say and turn to other crime.
