The Obama administration is a circus freak-show. He will soon be appointing the bearded fat-lady and the three-legged geek-boy. Buts its all OK - they went to Harvard.

Not exactly the group we’d need if we got in a tight. As far as I’m concerned they’re all a bunch of worthless “intellectuals;” that is, intellectuals in the sense that Thomas Sowell and Paul Johnson understand them. I’d rather have the local dog catcher run this country than that fraud with the JD from Harvard.

Lawyers are the lowest form of scum on the planet.

The vast majority of congress is made up of them; the lobbyists that buy them; the administration that supports them, and is among them.

They have learned to write the laws and game the system, at all levels, to serve their own ends.

The only people that win whenever lawyers get in involved, are lawyers themselves.

They leave wakes of destruction in their path wherever they go and absolutely will not ever clean their own houses, or allow any outside sources to do so either.

This may sound weird coming from someone who thinks that the USA is the greatest form of government ever devised by man, but lawyers are men, and man is imperfect and corruptible. And lawyers are corrupt to the core.

If any of my fellow FReeps are in the legal profession, and you take exception to this rant; sorry, but you folks have a whole Hell of a lot of work to do to regain the trust of this American (and I’m sure a lot of others) you have squandered. /rant

If you laid all of the lawyers in the world, end to end, on the equator
—— It would be a good idea to just leave them there.

A countryman between two lawyers is like a fish between two cats.

Benjamin Franklin (1706 - 1790)

Whatever their other contributions to our society, lawyers
could be an important source of protein.

10-4! Dickens told their story in Bleak House. Tulkinghorn and Vholes are two of the sleaziest lawyers to appear in a novel. Dickens made the point that the primary purpose of English law was to make business for itself. Check it out, a masterpiece. By-the-bye, Charles Dance played Tulkinghorn to perfection in the PBS production a couple of years back. I purchased the DVD and intended to watch it in increments, but became so captivated that I stayed up until 3:00 am and viewed it to completion.

I am unable to answer question, since I lack requisite detailed information for a full assessment. However, I can state without fear of contradiction that Harvard Law School prestige is a bowl of Horse Crap at best, and probably much worse in reality!
The myth has seen the light of day, and has evaporated in the eyes of any intelligent, discriminating beholder! IMHO

"If Elena Kagan (Harvard Law ‘86) is confirmed for the Court, all nine justices would have received their legal training at Harvard or Yale."

There are only six members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and while they're not lifetime appointees, I don't even remember a time when all six were service academy grads. There's usually been at least one or two ROTC products in there. My point is, even in a very special purpose, selct group as the Joint Chiefs, there is more academic *diversity* than in the SCOTUS.

I have spent the past 25 years working with mostly Harvard educated lawyers, some of whom are personally acquainted with Obama, Kagan and many others. They are absolutely brilliant when it comes to litigating big cases and delving into the esoterica of law. They also would not last five minutes working at a fast food outlet. They are a rarified breed - so smart in their legal world but totally, completely ignorant when it comes to the real world. Most of them have never worked their way through school, much less out at a minimum wage job alongside the “unwashed”. They are truly handicapped as far as having a broad perspective as to how the world at large works. One of things that so alarmed me when Obama was running for president was exactly the fact that he was a Harvard lawyer who had never really held a “real” job. I have the sense that more and more people are getting a clue that these “elite”, while well-suited in their specialty, are just completely ill-equipped when it comes to the business of running the country.

I have some Dickens books from my grandmother. I’ll have to read that one. But they’re old books (100+), might be better if the iBooks store has them in the free section.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an
invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship.
design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build
a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give
orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a
new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty
meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.
Specialization is for insects.

Low and behold, “Bleak House” was in the iBooks free section. Downloaded on the ipad. Oddly enough, the subject hits home for me. Thanks!
