Boy, you are so right. Probably the gift to give her for mother’s day is disable UAC. That might handle most of the issues for her before July.

I run Windows 7 on probably 5 PCs (including 64-bit), XP on one, and Windows Server 2008 R2 on 3. Toss Windows Home Server into the mix as well. UAC was a disaster but not all of Vista. It was fine once the driver issues caught up to it.

I have upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 multiple times with no significant issues on drivers. That said, I wouldn’t have my mom do something like that.

Finally, absolutely make sure you do the right version. 32-bit to 64-bit requires a clean wipe and vice-versa.

I never could get it to show subs but that was actually my only real gripe about Vista. I tend to watch a lot of anime and Japanese concerts so that was a bit of an issue but I just picked up PowerDVD 9 to work around it. Other than that one relatively minor complaint, it’s worked very well for me.

Well, I have Windows 7 installed...finally. The biggest problem...actually, the only problem was my Belkin N-Wireless adapter. I had to connect by wire to the network, but with the new Belkin driver, it seems to be fine.

Other than that, everything seems to be great...so far! :-)
