Sort of unusual but not unheard of.
Leon Spinks won the Heavyweight Championship in his 8th fight.
Pete Rademacher fought Floyd Patterson for the heavyweight title in his very 1st pro fight.
Rocky Balboa beat Apollo Creed in his first fight.
Did Mr. T beat Rocky in his first fight, too? I never actually saw that one...
Sounded better then it was.
Creed was victorious in the first Rocky. Stallone didn’t win the title until Rocky II.
And Stallone had a number of fights before he got his title shot.
