Ligers can stand 12 feet tall
Well a Lioness has many cubs, and may not have mated with just one male. The male Lion includes epigenetic signals in the DNA he passes on to his offspring that tend to maximize placental growth. The Female Lion includes epigenetic signals in the DNA she passes on to her offspring that tend to blunt this signalling.
Enter the Tiger.
A female Tiger mated to a male Lion doesn’t have the same epigenetic signals to mute the Lions ‘demand’ for maximum placental growth. So a male Lion and a female Tiger produce the GIGANTIC Liger.
A male Tiger mated to a female Lion doesn’t have those same epigenetic signals, but the female does mute the, now non existant, ‘demand’ for maximum placental growth. The result is that a “Tigon” is actually smaller than a Tiger.
Interesting stuff.
Holy Molly!!
Looks like it could eat a truck load of steaks, the driver, and the truck included.
Is this real or photo-shopped?
