I just noticed it said 2009...
Do you remember the taglines threads? jigsaw used to do them. Their last post was November 05, 2006. Freepers seem to just disappear.
One of my favorite posters on another site died and nobody knew until one of the children started using his computer and found a shortcut to the site and the password was still in the cache. Apparently he had been in ill health and had been posting all the way up to the end.
Is was surreal.
I would bet that is what has happened with some missing Freepers. I was talking to a poster on here and he admitted that his Dad had died and he was using his older screen name. I told him he couldn’t do that but I have forgotten who it was.
Probably the most underutilized feature on FreeRepublic, but it’s been a godsend sometimes when I’m trying to get ahold of someone here. If you go to the account menu, you can activate it (I think donors only can access it...)
