Do Girls Speed More Than Boys?
The Wall Street Journal ^ | May 5, 2010 | Josph B. White and Anjali Athavaley

Some big auto insurers are raising the rates they charge to cover teenage girls, reflecting the crumbling of conventional wisdom that young women are more responsible behind the wheel.

In a survey of teenage drivers, Allstate Insurance Co. found that 48% of girls said they are likely to drive 10 miles per hour over the speed limit. By comparison, 36% of the boys admitted to speeding. Of the girls, 16% characterized their own driving as aggressive, up from 9% in 2005. And just over half of the girls said they are likely to drive while talking on a phone or texting, compared to 38% of the boys.

The results were "a surprise to many people," says Meghann Dowd of the Allstate Foundation, an independent charitable organization funded by Allstate which sponsored the survey.

You ever speed on many occasions without a traffic camera snapping you or a cop pulling you over?

I may have pots and pans thrown at me for saying this, but women tend to think in a binary fashion when it comes to life...

I speed every chance I get. Pretty much every day, but the 405 only lets me go over the limit for short amounts of time.

Never, ever been pulled over for going too fast.

That’s why Clap ON! Clap OFF! is so popular with older women.

“You ever speed on many occasions without a traffic camera snapping you or a cop pulling you over?”

Yep...but it’s not a sex thing...it’s a smart thing...as in knowing how not to get caught.

I drive 150 miles a day and think women are often poor drivers* and terrible with directions and some young women drive fast absent mindedly while yakking

but no....I think ...in fact I would wager my life on it....men speed more...no doubt....it’s in our balls

*DC2000 is an excellent driver

The light switch advertised on TV for those who think in a binary pattern, but have difficulty moving out of the chair.

I would think it is impossible to speed on the 405 at any time. How do you manage that one?

By the way, wait until you see the details of the "congestion pricing" plans that will charge you for the privilege of being stuck in traffic.

Someone I saw was driving down the interstate reading the paper, drinking coffee and talking on the cell phone. It was not a woman driver.

The woman driver in the lane next to him was putting on eye liner and talking on the phone but was NOT reading the paper.
