"Socialist opponent of all war including the Allies battling against the Axis powers in WWII. "

All that I have read on Waters I never really got a sense of him being a Socialist. I get more that he just hates war period and figures it should be avoided at any cost.

he is a fox hunter and openly supports such. (in fact its reported he left England due to the ban on Fox hunting)

He is dead set against War because his father was killed in WWII. He backed Obama but now he is Dead set against him because Obama sent more troops.

So My take on him is he is pro anti-war not pro political movement of any kind.

At least that is the sense I get from his statements. I disagree with his stance but he seems to stick to his guns and takes to task ANY politician who makes war.

Roger Waters was born in 1943.

The whole “father died at Anzio” thing is a MYTH.

...unless he died there in a car accidenty or something some time AFTER 1943. At any rate, he was most defintely NOT a WWII casualty.

He is a known outdoorsman who also likes to fish. He treated Rick Wright like crap. Roger was usually snarky in every PF interview.

One of my faves is when Rog and a a young Syd Barrett were interviewed on TV by some stupid famous classical music critic. The man was saying why does the music need to be so loud. Roger was snarky while Syd was incredibly polite and charming. Poor Syd (real name Roger) Barrett cracked up from drug use. He seemed liked a very nice guy.

My impression of being in Pink Floyd is it was fairly miserable due to Waters. He made Rick Wright’s life pretty miserable.

Roger and Gilmour are both Socialists. Rog has been since he got married (I believe in the 1970s) and from what I read his wife was even farther to the Left.

Gilmour has called himself a Socialist in interviews as well.

I recognize their politics and take their political outburts with a grain of salt.

In the 2008 campaign the "flying pig" from Animals was painted with an Obama logo and antiChristian, antiHillary, and antiBush statements. His tour endorsed Obama. He may have regrets over that endorsement but it is too late to change the history.
