... you can't cure stupid. I'm over 50 and even back in the day where things were much safer...my parents would not allow any lone adult... male or female....relative or not...to take us kids anywhere. (with the exception of my grandmother)In the 50s, one brother turned 16 and went for a job interview at small appliance repair shop that was run by a guy working alone. Our dad went with him.

That’s what I mean. Parents were very involved in their children’s welfare then. Baby-sitters were rare and typically reserved for a special night out; curfews were enforced and you had to tell your parents where and who you’d be out with. (then always expect your parents to double-check with other parents) Trust but verify... was the motto.
