I was looking at his gg grandpa’s 80 acres in the exact area my gg grandparents were sharecroppers. I wondered briefly if my gg grandparents worked for his gg grandparents. Yes, my gg grandparents were white.

It was a little touching seeing him dig at the Georgia clay seeing how that is precious to us. Then he had to go get all “gots to get done ‘fo da sun goes down... donna let da sun set on yo black a&&...” and so on. He HAD to interject his RACIST PREJUDICES against white people. Don’t get me wrong, there were and are certainly racist white people in the south, but for crying out loud, people actually believe the caricature and won’t make room in their brain for anything else.

Even a friend of mine, let’s just not from here, made the comment while traveling through the state on how she saw no difference in the way blacks and whites interact in the ‘country’ than in any other part of America and didn’t understand why the legends still persisted in other parts of the US. I was like “I’m nearly 40 and segregation ended before I was born.”

Just perplexes me how the stereotype lives on and on. Oh yeah, people like Spike Lee have access to a camera and budget and they forget to do things like RESEARCH.

Just so you know, there are certainly racist people in the north, too.
