When a perfectly mind mannered dog, never mistreated in any way, attacks a child, how is that the owners fault for the dogs behavior?

Uh oh, you’ve done it now!
You’re showing a pic of a ‘pit’ being all drooly stupid with a kid.
Expect the dog haters to descend upon you in singular screaming mass.

I’m tired of hearing this. There are pit bulls that have had great owners that have tweaked out and killed a child.

They were bred to fight. The greatest owner and the world can take some of it out of them, but the instinct is always there. I have a friend who got a pit bull three months before his pregnant wife was due. CRAZY

Of course the owner is ultimately responsible, that does not diminish the fact these dogs are dangerous or that men who need these dogs have problems with their own manhood. The pits are needed to compensate.

Too bad the breed's instincts often overpower its pea-size brain resulting in horric consequences.

Regarding the pic, like a loaded gun in the hands of a toddler. ...maybe it'll go off, maybe it won't.

Most folks here know I have an American Bulldog...Performance-Standard variety...not so much Doc Johnson lippy/bulky

anyhow...he’s 8 months and weighs 72 lbs

he is very very active....loves me to death and plays well but rough with the kids and loves everyone like a Lab

my question is his guarding instincts are appearing to be quite slow in developing...

I’ve owned Dobies, Rotts , Alsatians and Big Schnauzers in my half century (plus water hunting dogs) and all those were pretty wary by now

any thoughts....I know ABDs mature slowly

he submits to me and rolls up very easy....he still doesn’t tinkle from side leg....which is usually when testosterone really kicks in....my last Dobie....never rolled over...ever..10 years.

Love these threads,
gives the .5%ers, the DOPers,
the slightly inebriated, the rabid haters,
the hysterics and the penis-fixated,
a place to showcase their neuroses.
