Rotts kill more than Pits
aside from strength and demaenor questions it is also a numbers game...there are a lot of dogs caleld pits that are mutts with pit blood
and it also has to do with who owns them
any meanssed dog of any breed should not be around anyone but it’s owner

I understand how you feel about pit bulls, and I appreciate you taking the time to reiterate it, but it doesn’t really address my question. Are you familiar with what happened to the Border Collie after it’s recognition by the AKC? Not everyone is, so no biggie, but there are now two types of Border Collie. The working dogs, and the show dogs. From what I hear, the show dogs wouldn’t recognize a herd animal if you fed it to them. It’s been less than fifteen years, and the BC’s indomitable instinct has been eliminated; how could the AmStaff retain even a vestige of it’s theoretical instability after seventy years of the same kind of relentless selection?

I drooled over American Bull Dogs for a long time, before I realized there was no way I could afford one with any kind of health guarantees. You’re so lucky to have one! I’m sure he’s just enjoying his extended puppyhood.

The same thing has happened with many hunting dogs...you have those for show and those for work...Same thing with the Thoroughbred horse, bred for large lung capacity and has spindly legs, Which makes the bred more prone to broken legs with the weight they carry, but large lung capacity for running..its in the breeders hands what comes out...
As far as your other questions, its of no interest to me and that is not an insult to you...So I have no answer to those questions..
Its really the buyer that has to determine if they want a show dog or working dog...But in watching the dog shows and backstage interviews of owners, it doesn't seem that herding instinct has been bred out of them, it just may not be as much in the forefront..
From what I gather, herding and hunting dogs even for show are kept in tip top condition by hunting for sport. What better way to keep a dog in condition than letting him do what he was bred to do....I cannot imagine anyone that has a show pointer never taking his dog out in the field...They have a configuration to be judged on and wouldn't get it by being a couch potato....imho

I am not going to get into a pi$$ing contest with you...have a great weekend....

Probably because he was a Bull Terrier.
Even an common idiot can see the ~obvious~ differences between the breeds.
But, I reckon they’re building better idiots these days.

Yeah, they’re building far better idiots these days than they once did.
I get to see some of them drive tractor trailers.

You’re not talkin’ behind my back.
I designed the page specifially to be.. er.. bizarre.
The original was an allegorical tale of how I ended up in NY state.
And.. some biopage flame idiots took it literally.
*sigh*
SO.. that current page was born.
*chuckle*

‘Expect the dog haters to descend upon you in singular screaming mass.”
Actually, there’s an initial hysterical rushing of the barricades which then trickles out to a few random stragglers, onlookers, gawkers and idle passersby.
[”singular screaming mass”/Eeeeek!=MC²?]

The Initial Impulse of Hysteria is equal to the sum of the square of the hypotenuse divided by the subtense angle of the implied sides of the shining trapezohedron.
Or something like that.
