Because they know it won't hurt him. It'll make him more human to some. His degenerate base will celebrate it because they love personal failure. The kind of people who see it as a moral failure are the kind of people who would never vote for him in the first place.
They think the culture is so far gone that this will take everything else off the front pages. They might be right.
While you're right the zombies in his base won't be moved by this, a lot of independents who are already turning on him will be. Base Republicans aren't the only ones with a moral framework who would find a president behaving like a horny adolescent disturbing. Voters in the suburbs and exhurbs concerned by our country's moral misdirection yet were dazzled enough by this guy into voting for him in 2008 are actually the people who I think will be most moved by this. It will also cause them to question what else this guy has been lacking judgment and been reckless on in terms of governing. Credibility is everything in politics. Obama would lose a lot of it and not just among Republicans but among suburban and exhurban voters who are increasingly not identifying with either party.
But will it stop the flight of independents from his camp. Independents are the celebrated group this election cycle.
“They” want to make him look more hetero. If he wasn’t married with children, appearing gay wouldn’t be an issue.
I agree. I thought the same thing when I first read this so-called “scandal.” Told my husband it wouldn’t surprise me that this is a disinformation campaign directed at those who think he’s gay.
