I just read where the Wanda Jackson album contains a cover of Bob Dylan's Thunder on the Mountain. I wonder if she will be looking for Alicia Keys clear through Tennessee. Apparently he called Bob looking for suggestions on songs for her to do. I can't imagine the absolute weirdness of having Bob Dylan's number in your phone. Or Jack White's for that matter.
Here is a live version of Shakin' All Over. It is the other side of You Know I'm No Good.
It is hard to recommend highly enough Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose,
Portland Oregon is a duet with Jack. In articles I have read about it, Jack's style caught her a little off guard. They recorded in a house in a week or two. She was used to a long process in a real studio.
I think his view about spending a lot of time tinkering takes away the emotion and what is real about music.
I prefer the You Know I’m No Good side to Shakin’ All Over (which is the only cut that Little Steven’s been playing on his syndicated Underground Garage show).
At least one of them (if not both) will not be on the forthcoming album.
Bob Dylan had a radio show for awhile. He probably connected with a number of artists. And when you want to seek clearance for a cover, it’s going to help going through the person who holds clearance rights.
