That stat doesnt surprise me. Last year, in an effort to make him omniscient, they showed a clip of his grading Tom Brady. It said “he is a big, strong, physically gifted athlete from a top tier school who throws a catchable ball.”
What a load, that statement is filled with more weasel words than a CBS newscast.
Big/Strong/Physically Gifted - just look at his height/weight/season stats.
Top tier school - Michigan is definitely a top 10 NFL factory (pre-Rodriguez), so theres nothing new in that part.
Throws a catchable ball - I doubt two people could define this the same way. Warner throws a catchable ball, Manning throws a catchable ball, Favre throws a catchable ball. I think Mel meant he has more touch than a Favre style, but the phrase he used grates on me when some idiot genious ESPN dolt uses it.
Basically, he was taking credit for knowing Brady was a stud, when all he said is he is tall, has good stats, went to a good school, and his receivers got the ball. The same thing could have been said for Oklahoma’s Jason White. I really dont think Mel watches tape of non-1st round players.
Michigan? I went to Appalachian State. Michigan is alright There just not in our league anymore.
