Walking around the tracks is dangerous any time of day. Two girls going there after dark is suicide. All thing considered they were lucky. A whole lot worse could have happened. I'm sure they will take a cab like normal people from now on.
They must have been drinking and lost their normal God given sense of fear. I'm a big strong guy but even I, looking at those dark tracks at 0330, would have thought, maybe this isn't such a good idea.
