Nice to wake up here in SA to cloudless skies. There was a tornado watch late last eve until 6am.

Yes, that weather came through here early this morning and now it is absoultely gorgeous outside.

Have a great day at Fiesta!

I cannot fathom how or why people do this.

Should I take a shot at the likely nationality of the trashers?

Question: I assume you have a smoker.

Nope, just a couple of regular grills.

One is made of wood.

Got any theories better than that?

They did it again. Street/sidewalk disgustingly littered.
I had to pass thru the 'Flambeau Parade' route on my way to St Joseph's last night. (Wonderful young lady singing for the Church, she sounded a lot like Enya).
The parade hadn't started yet but I had to closely watch my step to avoid stepping on something. Yes, mostly Hispanic people, and not a very good way to represent themselves.

I drank a Shiner Bock at the County Line BBQ. Pretty good libation.
Today I'll venture back to Market Sq and seek out the booth w/Frito pie.

Strong police presence here. The only trouble I've noticed was when a woman was negotiating her way thru the pre-parade crowd with a double occupancy baby stroller and a baby in her arm. The husband, (Caucasian, as was the wife), empty-handed, began yelling at people to move out of the way. A policeman quickly pointed him out to another officer ahead of where the man/wife were going.
I didn't wait to see what happened but was hoping the police bopped him over the head and ordered him to help his wife, who had a countenance of abject misery about her.

SA's a nice place, but can be tedious, like anywhere else, when it gets overcrowded.

Now this is magnificent - I am in front of The Alamo and they are having a ceremony for a local Army unit deploying to (Middle East I assume, I arrived towards the end) - a lot of white folks and Hispanic but only one flag I see being waved - Ol’ Glory (and of course the Lone Star above and to the side of The Alamo)

Make no mistake Jr., if you want to use Alinsky tactics on anyone, then you most certainly are not one of us.

On the contrary, maybe we should adopt Alinsky tactics--and start winning, for a change.

Do that, and you'll become everything you hate, and you won't even know it happened.

You not only lose because Thomas Jefferson trumps John Wayne, but because you falsely attributed the quote to Wayne. “Winning is everything, it’s the only thing.” doesn’t belong to Wayne, and it doesn’t belong to Vince Lombardi although many mistakenly believe it does. It’s Henry Russel Sanders from UCLA who coined it.

I like to think of “winning isn’t everything...” as a John Wayne quote—from “Trouble Along the Way” (1953). Red Sanders may have said it first, but I would never quote a UCLA ‘Ruin.

I'm afraid that it's par for the course for all too many of the Palinistas around here. :(

my post from another thread...

After November 2008, She lost control of the script, she lost control of her life, her destiny and her financial well being. They were trying to take her out. She was being reduced to a scandal ridden governor and fodder for sex crazed tabloids. They were trying to destroy her. They are still trying. But she now has control of her destiny.

I always wondered what would have been. I think millions of Americans have. If Lee Harvey Oswald would have missed and President Kennedy would have survived. That was different because they killed him. Although I fear there are leftists sick enough to go after Palin.

But I heard it said that when JFK was shot he lost his chance to define himself in the history books. He lost his pen. And thousands of others grabbed their own pens and made millions off of his demise.

Palin dodged a different kind of bullet. Many people here on Free Republic and in this country don’t understand that. I don’t think she minds going down, she has more courage than most people believe. But she doesn’t want to go down in vain for nothing. So she followed an Esther reasoning “If I perish, I perish”. She knows there is danger. She is walking through the fire and carried the burden with uncommon zeal. But she really loves America.

Many of us are willing to join her and fight with her every single step of the way. In so many ways 2012 feels like an impossible dream. As does the future of our country sometimes. But we have to do this one day at a time, one week at a time, one month at a time. We have to get through the 2010 election first.

Portraying Palin supporters as a lynch mob sounds like something Alinsky would have recommended.
