Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was suspended for six games without pay Wednesday for violating the NFLs personal conduct policy and ordered to undergo behavioral evaluation.
Commissioner Roger Goodell handed down the punishment a week after prosecutors decided not to charge Roethlisberger in a case involving a 20-year-old college student who accused him of sexually assaulting her in a Georgia nightclub in March.
Goodell said the leagues conduct policy gave him the right to impose discipline regardless of whether he broke the law.

This POS is lucky to have Tiger to prop him up a bit, weakly as it is.
I hate to see established quarterbacks doing stupid crap like this. It really wears hard on the fans of their teams.
Trade him.
He must be really stupid.
Coming soon to a government near you.
Oh indeed he is. You would think that he would keep the Las Vegas affair in mind before doing something this stupid.
The union will appeal the ruling and Ben will end up playing. The league is going to go on lockout next year anyway.
The religion of professional sports is a freaking joke.
It all sucks.
Lets see. No laws broken and he gets suspended for 6 games. What the hell is a matter with these people.
They didn’t rule he was innocent. They said they lacked the evidence to proceed.
Besides, he was with a minor in a bar. The guy wasn’t innocent of that. He needs to grow up and I won’t be crying tears the multi millionaire has to sit a few weeks.
“Big Ben is being railroaded.....”
B/S....As Bradshaw said he is an elite athelete in the NFL and continues to put himself in these positions. He is The key rep of the Steelers and we deserve better. I grew up in Pittsburgh and went through the 1-13 seasons, but, we played Steeler football with integrity.
Trade him and let Byron take us through the season and prepare with a draft pick this year or next.

Ben gets into trouble and the woman is considered to be a “victim”.
I am not a defender of these sports stars, they have a responsibility to act responsibly and be good role models. But in this case it wasn't Ben's fault.
Half the DA's in the country don't even care. If one of them says he lacks the evidence to proceed, I'd normally interpret that as meaning that his case is non-existent.
Look, I HATE the Steelers but this is just wrong.
The man is innocent until convicted.
Hines Ward was voted the NFL’s dirtiest player in a poll of his peers by Sports Illustrated. Gonna trade him, too?
Not a chance. Ward runs every play with professional head hunters (know in the NFL as Linebackers and Safeties) literally trying to hurt him. Their only job in the NFL is to punish and physically intimated receivers, especially when they go over the middle which is where Ward always goes.
Instead, Ward ends up physically intimidating them. It's a beautiful thing. He will hit them on a block every bit as hard as they would hit him if he was catching a pass. The guy is nothing but a Safety or Linebacker who happens to play wide receiver.
The fact that the man has given more hurt than he receives over the last 12 years, plus the fact that when he does get smashed (usually a couple of times every game), and he just jumps up with a smile on his face and comes right back for more. That just pisses people off and psychs them out.
Hines Ward is what football is about. Every team should have a Hines Ward, but guys that tough are damn hard to find.
Roethlisberger must undergo a comprehensive behavioral evaluation by medical professionals and may not attend any team offseason activities until that evaluation is completed.
From the article, it appears that the league spoke with his reps and the unions. Unless he appeals, he probably went along with it and is glad whatever it was doesn't get out. Or not.
Sounds like he was railroaded for getting laid. What a crock of poop
They have morals, 'aint... And if that does not ring a bell with you, then no amount of explaining will lead you to knowledge.
