Sitting on the porch with a cooler, it should be a can of something American, I will grant you.
I make my own these days. Is that old school? I have an amber ale fermenting right now, can't wait to get it bottled. When I don't have my own brews handy, there are a few specialty beers that are very good, if you are into that. And if PBR is good enough for you, you will save a lot of money over a lifetime.
I’ve thought about making beer a few times but it seemed like a lot of work versus just buying beer, but no doubt it
could be fun for some. I’m not really in to specialty beers but I do like some that Leinenkugel makes when I get a chance to pick them up.
Don’t forget National Bohemian, or “Natty Bo” for those who “enjoyed” it....
Believe it or not, the hardest thing to make is an American Light. You can’t hide any flaws. I visited the old Coors brewery in Memphis with an employee. They brewed it double strength and cut it with water at bottling. The double strength fresh out of the lagering tanks was great! I made a batch at home. Kegged it. The only person at a picnic that could tell the difference in a blind tasting was the employee. I used to compete. I won best of show at the World Cup of Beer and a blue at the California small brewers festival back in the day.
