I remember the days of basic broadcast with two UHF channels.
I eventually got cable, and I liked it. But then I moved to a place where I was back to those 5 channels in a market with even more provincial station programmers...I began reading a lot more. The last decade or so, I’ve had DirecTV. Don’t go in for any of the Sports packages, rarely even watch any pay per view, never buy any of the Special events, but did opt for the expanded variety channels.
I could not go back to just terrestrial TV...I’d eat Ramen 3 times a day, 5 days a week, rather than go back to just the 5 in my area..
You had UHF? All we had was the big 3 broadcast networks, and all on VHF.
I was nearly out of high-school before we got a PBS station on UHF.
Consider yourself lucky to have terrestrial over-the-air television! Where I am at, if you don’t have satellite TV, you don’t have any TV.
