I think you’re mistaken about how much CO2 has been released. I read somewhere (can’t ind it now) that it’s not that huge and this is a false talking point. Do you have a reference?
It’s the aerosols that are the problem with volcanoes, they block sunlight. Volcanoes launch the aerosols high into the atmosphere where they do the most damage and change climate — cold.
CO2 is given off too, that’s why we measure it very accurately at volcanoes around the world, like Mauna Loa in Hawaii. We like to measure CO2 at volcanoes because so much CO2 comes out, it makes it easy to measure.
When Mount Pinatubo erupted in the Phillipines in the early 1990s(?), I remember reading that the ash spreading over the earth’s atmosphere would LOWER the earth’s temperature by 1 degree Celsius over the next decade. I remember thinking at the time that that was about the level of increase in temperature the global warming crowd had claimed the earth’s temperature had increased in the last 50 years (which they blamed on the internal combustion engine). Anyway, I think it’s funny that what man allegedly takes 50 years to do, God can undo with one volcanic eruption. But then, to be a hard core climate change believer, it’s really hard to believe in an omnipotent God.
