Except todays generation of teachers would be fondling the kids instead of disciplining.

If the parents are sick of their expelled children lounging around the house

How many of the troublemakes have one parent who is only 13-14 years older then themselves, and are paid by the government to lounge around the house?

A lot of these kids will never, ever, get any guidance from home.

If any of the pencil necked creeps in the current school system ever lay a finger on one of my kids then I'll go D-Day on their ass. Most of them can't teach anything but garbage and I'll handle the discipline, thank you very much.

Paddling der Heine? Isn’t that “die Heine”? Yes, paddling the nutcase teachers might be a good idea in most schools.

"Residents of the city's comfortable homes, most of which sport neighborly, worn chairs out front, praise the change."

I just wonder what is meant by "worn chairs out front"? A rather strange line in the article don't ya think?

No. Any offense that justifies hitting kids justifies expelling them. And I don’t trust school administrators not to misuse the power: zero-tolerance policies and brute force go together all too well.

It’s a state issue.

“do not want teachers to be paddling. that is up to the parents to discipline their children. “

also re; lib parents paddling conservative kids -

I think it is just done with parental permission. Which is the way I think it should be.

Them Mom and Dad buy little Johnnys story, blame the teacher for the problem, and go out for ice cream. The problem solved. Right?

Maybe, maybe not. I still don't want leftie SEIU, NEA, 0bama voters (most teachers) laying a finger on my grandchildren. They are thugs and brutes and will mistreat the child or grandchild of a conservative if they are given half the chance. They are already trying to indoctrinate kids with socialist politically correct left wing nonsense. That is abuse enough without them hitting the kids as well.

The make-up of the school administration is the result of local decisions and hiring, not the unions.

I don't believe there are many if any school corporations that allow the teacher to administer the punishment.

I agree that teachers shouldn't have the ultimate say-so here, but I don't believe that's the case.

It sure isn't/wasn't in my kids school in the '90s

40+ years ago, there was only one guy in the school who wielded the paddle. The Jr high shop class would create a new masterpiece of a weapon for him every year.

He was respected for that authority. And generally, while there was only one or two students a year on the receiving end of his custom made whacker, everybody in the school knew the when, where, and why they got it.
