Amazing, aren’t they? From protracted coma to quarterhorse bearing down on you at 30mph when you get home. I guess the fact they cover 10ft per gallop is how they get to you so fast.
Mine, Arthur, bucks like a horse, too, when greeting.
Wholeheartedly recommend the English, not so sure about the others. The Napolitanos worry me.
And I include the American in recommendation.
I have a rare strain, the Ashley-Greco line, who are 31 inches at the shoulders, much taller.
They are an outstanding dog. I cannot recommend them highly enough; the 6 yo neutered male American Mastiff shares the house with a 13 yo neutered female minpin, and a newly acquired intact 2 yo male Bichon. Of course the liveliest one is the Bichon. He belonged to my daughter, but when her husband got cancer, everyone was way too busy for the dog except me, and I ended up bonding with him. I stayed nights with them for a month, so my dogs were used to smelling him on me, and he fit right in to the household. He is, sadly, low dog on the totem pole but he accepts it in good humor.
As I type this, the mastiff is at my feet, licking the last few smears from a bowl of vanilla ice cream with fresh strawberries. There is no food he does not love, but he gets bad gas from some veggies, and he doesn’t get chocolate or grapes.
