You said that the purpose of your putting the word "gaffe" in quotes was to indicate that it was a specious, bogus claim, yet you cited 2 Palin "gaffes", one of which was bogus and untrue and one which did occur, but is open to debate as to whether it's a gaffe of any consequence.
By characterizing the false example and the true example as both being "gaffes", you weakened your use of the word gaffe in quotes and you can see the confusion caused as evidenced by the replies to you on this thread.
All we have are your words to go by.
If they lack clarity, this is what you end up with.

Ah, yes, quotes......
Unattributed quotes, and that's the problem with your rationalization, you assume that the reader will believe that a deceptive leftist is being quoted, but being unattributed the person proffering your statement can imply that a conservative icon was quoted and just condemned Sarah. You're not there to attribute the quote.
A word to the wise, cops and prosecutors call English professors like you "convicts".

No, because a lot of people post right after reading the article. None of your subsequent protestations were even seen. There will be plenty of folks coming by to assure you Sarah Palin did not say that.
And you deserve it: You must admit, the way you laid out the sentence with “via SNL” really weakened the idea you were expressing. I consider it a far bigger crime that you would put such an awkward sentence right there in the first line of your vanity. The thing about Sarah was very easy to “misread” as you put it, and the McCain part makes no sense at all.
And you’re going Rambo All-Caps on us to boot. To those of us who’ve been on FR for a long time, this thread is the biggest hoot of the day. You’re doing just about every nOOb thang in the book. I’ve been laughing my a** off since around post 3.
