Here is one of the aforementioned hippies:
I saw this kid talking to one of the Broward County Sheriff's Deputies after the rest of his group skulked away. In all honesty, the kid was polite and courteous to the deputy. I got the impression that the cops broke it up and made the hippies leave because the old guy was about to rip their heads off. :)

That old man has a few years on me, but I don’t think I’d get in his face like that. Old age and treachery beats youth and enthusiasm every time.
