I have XP and I kept getting viruses that would shut my computer down so it could “fix the problem”. Finally got the black screen of death and had to have my HD replaced. I just don’t know what to trust, since I know trojans appear as “Windows updates”

Today very few viruses can penetrate a properly updated XP or windows 7 machine without user intervention.

Users who engage in risky behavior greatly increase the chances of a problem. Risky is defined as anything ‘adult’, anything focused on kids, or generally related to the top 10 searches of the day. Downloading anything from an unknown source is also risky.

Spam is also a source, I rely on an email filter which prevents 99% of the problems from avenue.
