LOL I see the little icon on my screen right now too and I updated earlier today. I'm just going to ignore it and hope it goes away.

Simply right-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop, click Properties, click the Automatic Updates tab, then uncheck the box at the top. Click OK to save your changes. You can even go a step further and disable the Windows Update service: click Start, click Setttings, click Control Panel, double-click on Administrative Tools, double-click on Services, right-click on the Automatic Updates service, click Properties, set the Startup Type to “Disabled”, then click OK to save your changes.

You’re in my prayers - that’s about as much as I know about what to do with a computer problem. Pray.

The same thing happened to me about a month ago. I downloaded Malwarebytes and fixed the problem. If you have another computer, download malwarebytes onto a memory stick. Connect your memory stick to the infected computer and open Malwarebytes. Let Malwarebytes do a scan of the computer and delete any bad stuff the scan finds. It took care of the problem for me. I googled the information from the supposed “update” and found the Malwarebytes solution from a techie online!

Just out of curiosity, what version are you running?
Did you go into control panel/programs to see if the update is actually there?

Which version of Windows are you using? I’m just curious, I’m using Win 7 and just checked, no error messages.
