To quote a friend, after Sunday's conclusion of the Masters: "There was always a bit of the punk in Tiger Woods, but I always loved watching him play, and I always wanted him to win. The whole show was just too compelling. It wasn't that way over the weekend. I wanted Tiger to lose -- and it's not just the sex thing. The guy's just too weird."

Tell your BIL that the “golfing god” got his a*s kicked last year by an Italian kid who had just turned 16 at the British Open aka The Open.

Club throwing and swearing Tiger missed the cut at The Open last year. The kid was close even until the end at The Open.

16 year old Matteo Manassero made the cut at The Masters this past weekend at age 16. No one has ever done that - not Tiger, not Bobby Jones - no one. The young man is incredibly humble and gracions.

The British Open last year was a joy because for two rounds, 60 year old Tom Watson played with young Matteo.

I do remember a young Phil Mickelson at The Open but I think he was 18 or so.

Dunno about that. A “Sports hero” as a understand it, is one who acts heroic within the arena of athletic competition. Jesse Owens defeating Nazi athletes, Willis Reed limping onto the court against the Lakers, etc. Even someone who has the courage to take the winning shot, or throw the winning pass under pressure. The trouble starts when you extend that to other areas of life. Nike said "If I could be like Mike" even though MJ isn't really the nicest person in the world. Now we're supposed to wear his underapnts too.

My BIL says Tiger is a “golfing god” and his private life is
“none of his business.”

Yeah he probably said the same thing about Bubba. Ask him if that statement is true about Sarah Palin’s family's personal life.

Tiger is very much like Obama, they are both narcissists!

I said it then, and I’ll say it now. Tiger should play the villian like he was in the WWF. Go on the green dressed like a pimp. Crush his enemies and taunt them. Hold up pics of the babes he nailed and say “That’s how Tiger rolls”. Really play it up. Even I would watch golf-and I would usually rather be in a Turkish prison.

Wonder what Tiger's future holds, given that he cannot even control his mouth on bad shots. Does not bode well, IMHO. Anyway; all to pathetic. Particularly on what should have been a 'humble' reappearance.

Resented even more the media event before he stepped on course. No matter the reason; he finds a way; like Obama; to make it all about himself! Yes, wanted him to lose; and even then; Tiger made a big deal- resenting his slice of 'humlbe pie'.

This Tiger has changed his stripes; at least, from what 'we' see now.

I am also a huge Nick Watney fan. Butch Harmon coaches him as well as Phil and others. If young Nick had not had a bad Saturday, he might have been there challenging Phil. He shot a 65 on Sunday. Nice guy, very humble.

Nick and Phil made Tiger look bad at Shanghai last year at the end of the year. In the last 3 holes, Tiger hit two balls in the water. Tiger was bitching about people taking pictures, sulking, throwing clubs etc.

The other guys are cathcing up on Tiger’s distances even though they are not roid/HGH users. Watney is longer and he is not a user as he is not that big. Phil is a beast who hits it a mile. He worked on going from being overweight to strong as a bull by powerlifting.

Tiger is the Michael Jackson of the PGA.

What a difference between Mickelson and Tiger. Phil, the dedicated family man and a class act on the course. Then there’s Tiger.....

Mickelson's Masters win completes role reversal with Woods

What about him brining home STDs or possibly AIDS to his innocent wife? A “good man” does not do something like that. The STDs could give his wife cervical cancer or worse. Golf is not the NBA too.

Exactly! You'd think he'd be able to control himself for four rounds of golf, especially with all the hype the media made out of his returning for the Masters. This doesn't speak well for him at all.

“Tiger is very much like Obama, they are both narcissists!”

Oddly the sports media has fawn over Tiger like they fawn over Obama. Much of the time, Phil Mickelson was treated badly like Sarah Palin.

If you think the sports media is not very liberal - just look where Olberman came from.

Tiger played poorly and admitted that. He had 16 bogeys for the week and still went 11 under par! I wouldn’t exactly call that catching up. By contrast Phil had just 6 bogeys all week. How can any one out there think that they can play golf at Tiger’s level and not get upset about a bad shot. To paraphrase from Tin Cup “$#!+, F***, those are highly complex golf terms”...

BTW he is just a golfer and to all of you that are trying to make this out to something bigger than that is pathetic.

If I could talk to him I would tell him shut up and play golf and it is not our fault you screwed up your personal life, now bring your A game or stay home!

We should not hold his sex life against his ability to play golf

Do not think that is the issue; his 'playing' golf. It IS about marketing himself/selling himself; which to do so;he must carry a branded, positive, 'hero'-like image.

Tiger easily cultivated the perception; just not the reality. Golfer's like everyone else have failings. But there are limits to one's reality. Golf is a 'Gentleman's sport'; and your behavior should not scream otherwise. If you 'play' around; or have other issues; you had better be discrete and not stupid.

Tiger lost on stupid.

In Tiger's mind and reality; and in the realities of Golf history; Tiger has never been 'just a golfer'.

Tiger did not make mistakes. The adultery was deliberate, and he was the one who chased the women. No, not everyone is okay with betraying his wife with 16 or more women and possibly passing STD to her. And the lies! If he cheats on those who love him, he is likely to cheat also on his golf game (like taking steroids). No, Tiger is not a good man.

I’m right with you on that, however we aren’t in public view with impressionable youngsters watching on TV and on the golf course.
