Crazy to think a breed of dog is to blame??? That is exactly what is to blame.
I've been training dogs forever. Bomb dogs, dope dogs, attack dogs and even service dogs. Now I work with stock dogs. Border collies and Belgian sheepdogs. We take the border collie pups out of the kennel at 8 weeks old and and put them on a flock of ducks to see if they will work. Most of them instantly start herding the ducks. It is called instinct. These pups have had very limited human contact. They work because they have been bred for the last 200 years to work. It is not nurture, it is nature.
Pitt bulls have been bred for the last 200 years to bite and fight. This too is a bred in instinct. It is there because it has been bred into them. It is nature, not nurture. The owners are usually ignorant of the dogs potential but it is the dogs that attack, maim, and sometimes kill. If pit bulls didn't exist in this country this child would be intact and unharmed. That is an unavoidable fact.

If you knew anything about these dogs
you'd know they were and are used for far more than fighting and biting.
They are a multi-functional dog.

You'd also know that they were specifically bred not to be human aggressive.

If you are willing to make claims about the nature of an animal, you have to be willing to accept EVERYTHING it was bred for. There is no denying that dog men bred pit bulls to be good at fighting dogs, and before that butchers bred them to be good at gripping bulls. It is also a FACT that is easily seen in any history of the breed that has been written that the dogs were also bred for the same amount of time to be extremely pliable to humans, to the extent that human-aggressive dogs were often culled to prevent such a trait from being passed to the next generation.

If you want to make an argument about one aspect of a dog’s inbred “instincts” and leave all the other stuff out, you are purposefully misrepresenting your facts, and will not be taken seriously by anyone here with any kind of common sense.

Some cannot get it through their heads that dogs have been bred for different reasons and instinct is inbred. And they can revert to what they are bred for in a split second.. Its laughable that they try to change the subject by sounding stupid by bringing up hippos...Wonder if that ever had one living next door to them with only a wire fence between the hippo and their kids... Like pits, hippos are killers also.

Oh and when it comes to articles about pit aggression, lets change the subject and use drunk driving accidents....these people cannot chew gum and walk at the same time.

Smart people debate the subject some ridicule the messenger because they hate the message....others cannot raise a rational debate so they change the subject and make themselves look like looneys.
