Weird stuff seems to go with major comets. When a comet appeared in A.D. 60, the people of Rome assumed it meant the impending death of their still new emperor, Nero. He responded by exiling a potential rival. When another comet turned up just 4 years later, ancient historians say he ordered the execution of dozens of nobles. It is said that Moctezuma II saw a comet in 1517 that foreshadowed the downfall of Aztec empire. In 1910, a wave of hysteria swept over the United States amid reports that Earth was about to pass through Halley's tail.

Nothing turned out as I wanted to yesterday, so I figured it was a day to just enjoy. So I did.

Too bad about Tom’s sunburn. I think the only real sunburn I had was when I was 16, and the class trip was to an amusement park.
I was so burned I couldn’t sleep. By the third night, it was all tanned.

Morning! Off to church soon, then to a new parishioner’s for a house-blessing in lieu of coffee hour.

"... then to a new parishioners for a house-blessing in lieu of coffee hour." To me, this would be some form of a curse. No coffee? Get thee behind me.

We’ve had coffee and all that (and breakfast and lunch) and should be loading up for church right now, but I’m not dressed!
Bye!

We’re supposed to have temps in the 100’s by this time next week (YAY!!) but so far, I haven’t turned the A/C on. Just fans. I still have one to put up, but can’t decide where it should go.
Tomorrow will just be another day with no mail. BUT! I have movies!!

It’s good to get acquainted with new parishioners.

I have a cup of coffee I’ll donate. Of course, it was made with fresh ground French roast beans and has been in the fridge...with chocolate caramel creamer. But you’re most welcome to have it. No whipped cream, though.

We are. I’m having a Kitchen Adventure with cilantro. It’s all almost done - just waiting for DP to get back from church with Tom.

I am now. We had a good time. Met her sons — a couple of great guys. LoM is taking them on a tour around Mt. Rainier right now.

Whoa! “Kitchen Adventure?” Are your smoke alarms up to date on their batteries? Got the extinguisher handy?

I just finished watching “A Fish Called Wanda,” and I may have to watch it again before I put it back in the mail. What a hoot!!!
I had forgotten how really funny it is! LOL!

The plot is flawless. There are a few “cusswords” but not enough to break the flow of the laughs. John Cleese (wrote it) Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline and Michael Palin.
I saw it when it first came out (1988) with my sister, and thought I would never get through the movie alive. Tomorrow may find me on the floor again, since there is nothing doing, here.
The traffic to the Lake has been tied up for three days because of the sobriety checks, and if I felt like going, I’d have to go by way of AZ, rather than one of the local roads.
I’m sure the roads to Mt. Charleston are the same way, so I would avoid them at all costs...I only go places like that in mid-week.
