Looks like a coffee beer I used to brew called “Headslam Stout”
Beer Ping!
A low to medium ping list aimed at all of us who, well, love our beer

Well. That certainly looks rather good.
Looks like you need a spoon to consume it.
Does look good, but I’m a dedicated IPA guy.

I only drink beer from California and definitely not a coffee porter unless it is on tap.
I have ventured to the double IPA and Imperial IPA.
The best Imperial IPA (really really really hoppy) is from Green Flash about 6 bucks a bottle.
of course I can see the Stone box in background of that photo, so I’m sure that you already know this!
And I thought the people paying $8 a pop for domestic light beer at ball games were crazy.
I have had an awful lot of different beers, and have become very skeptical of ‘event’ hyped beers, though even before trying this beer Three Floyds was my favorite american brewery, bar none. I got 2 bottles of 2006 DL in a trade, and drank one in 2007, and one later (don’t recall when).
In this case, the hype was utterly justified. It was the smoothest imperial stout I have had anywhere, the alcohol was invisible in the taste, and I can only regret that I may never have it again.
After this beer, my favorite imperial stout is stone’s, but I was quite surprised to find that the ‘hype’ of the rating of the beer was arguably justified by taste.
All in all, you cannot go wrong with 3 floyds regular offerings (dreadnaught, alpha king, pride and joy, gumballhead, robert the bruce, black sun, )....their season and one-offs I have had mixed results with, some being brilliant and some just hmm (I really like alpha klaus, and found apocalyptic cow and black heart ipa too harsh (maybe needs bottle time).)
Looks good! If you can see through it, it’s not worth drinking. It’s a good sign when the foam is dark.
If I can’t get that, my dark/thick/strong beer of choice is Mephistopheles by Avery Brewery. Also good: Worldwide Stout by Dogfish Head.
one honorable mention I would like to add to my comments about three floyds is the brian boru irish red, which I got for the first time last year. It was entirely too drinkable and easily my favorite beer of that style I have had anywhere.
Ok, you’re just buying them for the name, right? :-)
Great collection, I buy things for the name or bottle shape, just to say I did. But I’m strange that way. hehehe
