SPOKANE, Wash-- A group of kids and parents in north central Spokane were in the middle of an Easter egg hunt Sunday afternoon when a couple of pit bulls from down the street got out from behind their fence and charged at them. One of the pit bulls grabbed on to one of the 6-year-old girls, biting her twice on the arm. The parents were able to run at the dogs and scare them back to their yard. The injured girl only suffered some minor bite marks. Parents don't have any idea why the dogs chose to attack the group.
"They came two houses down to get them," said Lindsay Baker, mother of girl bit by dog. "Obviously it wasn't because we were just too close to their house"
According to Baker, this isn't the first time this neighborhood has had an issue with these dogs.
"I believe they've been deemed dangerous before," said Baker. "The litter of puppies that came from those dogs have been given to people around the neighborhood, has actually been put to sleep for being vicious and attacked the neighbor lady this last year, broke her wrist so it's been kind of an ongoing thing with the family of dogs"
Baker called Spokanimal to notify them of the attack. They told her since the dogs were back in the yard they couldn't do anything today, but would call her back tomorrow to see what she would like to happen to the dogs.
Update:
After the story aired on KHQ Local News at 6 the pit bull's owners, Bill and Sharon Grove, contacted KHQ and said they are regretfully and deeply sorry this happened, and that the dogs will be put down.
Now that there is funny, I don’t care who you are....(cable guy)
I have been told, repeatedly, that attacks like this are rare.
Yawn.... boring, come up with some new stuff, the only thing repetitive is you, lol.

Maybe you can link me to an actual page, or study? What I found at the cdc, was that other than rotwilers, pitt bulls acount for about the number of fatalaties of all other pure bred dog breeds COMBINED (minus rotwilers, who are the second largest by most studies), as well almost equivalent to the number of deaths caused by all other cross breeds COMBINED. The exception is that, according to the CDC, a little over half of their statistics pertain to the fact that they don’t know which kind of dog was involved.
I’d like to see some studies that name the breeds which bite more (direct link please, since I’m not looking on people’s blogs for hours, and I’ve already posted Several direct links to statistics, and also to the CDC fact sheet which I had to look through. I’d also love to see the statistic that Pitt Bulls make up 60% of the medium to large dog breeds owned (I call bull again), unless you can provide some statistics and sources (to either a study, or a page with statistics citing studies), I still maintain that those who spout these positions are making them up.
A link to the fatalities page, I did not see a “Bite” page at the CDC...

You know, the web produced results for the “Statffordshire BullTERRIER,” but no retriever...which, oddly enough, can be included in the term “Pittbull.” See the quote below:
“Many breed-specific laws use the term “pit bull” to refer to the modern American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier.”
Yowsers, that “retriever” does look like a pitt bull. :)

To another pot belly pig it would be irresitable...I always thought that if human beings had to smell each others butts like dogs do, it might do away with any wars...How can you fight a war with someone after doing that....:O)
I’m not sure what you’re trying to point out except that Canada has about 1/100th of the dog bite fatalaties we do.
It seems most are by “Mixed breed, Sled Dog, Strays.” Thank you for pointing to an actual report. I appreciate you taking the time to do so. And I would like to apologize if I sound confrontational. I love Free Republic because here we can find facts (Along with a LOT of opinion, which I love). I just hate biased opinion being touted as fact, and this just so happens to be a big pet peeve of mine, since I never see the dog bite claims backed up with fact. LIke I said earlier, I don’t have an opinion on banning the dogs or not, because to me, ANY animal can be dangerous. I just don’t like unsubstantiated claims (Not alluding to you, but in general).
“The majority of breed identifications in cases of Canada fatal attacks were derived from media sources.
“The majority of breed identifications in the cases cited above were not verified by the NCRC.”
Along with Hyenas and Crocodiles, I understand them to be the most dangerous animal in Africa (by attacks I guess). Haven’t seen statistics, but have been told that they are nasty animals.
Part of the difficulty in making valid generalizations is
determining the population of a particular breed or type of dog
and its ratio to the total population of all dogs.
I've seen many reports on the preponderance of "pit bull type" dogs in shelters across the US.
Poor child...
We need to ban hippos now..........
“I always thought that if human beings had to smell each others butts like dogs do, it might do away with any wars”.
They do it is called being a fag :>)
to be a fag you do more than smell each other like a dog...I really don’t want to go any farther into this, it was a joke....now I have to get that picture of Barney FRank out of my head....HELP....:O)
He is an American Staffordshire Terrier.
I consider "pit bull" to be a function rather than a breed.
My dog is not therefore a "pit bull".
He does though perform a function of retrieving.
He loves water... is a powerful and tireless swimmer...and has exhibited a soft mouth.
My referring to him as an American Staffordshire Retriever
is an attempt to humorously make a point.
the term Pittbull
Here is a "pittbull"...
Which arguably could be beacuse of they’re behavior which could cause owners to let them loose or shelter them...So maybe nobody really knows anything.
As a side note, have you ever read Malcolm Gladwells “The Tipping Point.” It talks about things of this very nature, like experts attributing the rise of certain diseases in poor economic areas, some attributing due to drug use, some do to close quarters, some due to poor medical care, and each substantiating their claims, but nobody really knowing.
Maybe that’s the case with pitts. Who knows I guess.
