Michael Steele: Harsh Criticism Is Based on Race

RNC Chairman Michael Steele on Monday said harsh criticism from his opponents is motivated by race.

Steele brushed aside calls for him to resign in his first interview since news broke that the Republican National Committee (RNC) reimbursed young donors for a nearly $2,000 party at a bondage-themed nightclub in Los Angeles.

In the interview, Steele said that black political leaders, such as President Barack Obama and him, are held to an unfair higher standard.

“The honest answer is, yes,” he said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “Barack Obama has a slimmer margin. A lot of folks do.

“It’s a different role for me to play and others to play and that’s just the reality of it. But you just take that as a part of the nature of it.

“My view on politics is much more grass roots-oriented … so I tend to, you know, come at it a little bit stronger, a little bit more street-wise. That’s rubbed some feathers the wrong way.”

Absolutely right-he is old school Republican head that can get away with a few “minor” scandals like the expensive parties for Republicans and the nude LA entertainment check for $2000. We cannot afford even one scandal from the Republicans. Our country is at stake. and we certainly can’t have someone at the helm who thinks he’s getting a bums rush because he’s Black. Not so. If we are going to raise money for elections for the coming elections, we need a CONSERVATIVE LEADER with solid Conservative VALUES and Statements NOW. We cannot afford to HOPE you grow into your job. Michael Steele is a fine man but this is the wrong job for him.

You are a STUPID RACIST FOOL NON-CONSERVATIVE EUNUCH AND I WILL NEVER SEND A PENNY TO THE RNC UNLESS AND UNTIL YOU QUIT AND A NEW ACTUAL CONSERVATIVE GUY/GAL TAKES OVER.

Sorry for caps to cap police but I’ve had it with this freaking idiot tool.

The RNC chairman hardly reviews individual expenditures for that little amount of money.

Tell me where the buck stops. The person who spent this obviously thought they were acting within their purview and to the expectation of their superiors. Was there a disconnect, and if so, why? The criticism of Steele and his underlings is well-deserved, and tepid compared to what I think it should have been. They're morons.

That means the criticism must arise out of some other concern

Do I get a whiff of the race card in this statement from you?

I'm not the one suggesting there's racism in criticism of the handling of the event or its aftermath-- that's Steele. Not all criticism of a person of color is the result of the color of their skin, believe it or not.

Despite your weak protestation, Steele's performance got Obama elected. That was not some inevitability, it required active incompetence at the top of the Republican ticket and party. Obama (and Hillary) gave them all the ammunition they needed (Ayers, Dohrn, Wright, 'the birther' issue, radical-leftism, his parents, his 'work' in Chicago, etc, ad nauseum).

I blame Steele for being incompetent, the color of his skin has nothing to do with it.
