We went out to eat for the first time in months (kids got stellar grades). Every restaurant was packed. When I pass the movie theaters, the lots are full. So is the mall. It’s incredible. I can’t help but feel jaded: with so many out of work, with so many demanding ‘change’ in the last election...what the heck is it that they’re spending their money on? Bread and circuses. We’re a nation of idiots.
Restaurants in my little town are closing down left and right. The best BBQ joint in this area closed on Sunday. He's the latest in a line of several that have closed for good in the past 6 months. This guy was normally a packed house, too. Three factories in my town have closed in the past year and several more over in Chattanooga (the closest "big" city to me). I would imagine that there are a lot of folks you see patronizing those institutions who are putting it on their credit cards. It's the American way, at least nowadays it's the American way.....ignore reality, chaaaarge it!

You know... during the last "Great Depression" there were about 25% unemployed (of the workforce) at the height of it.
That left 75% still working and still paying bills and still getting their paychecks and still spending their money... :-)
Just because someone else is out of work, doesn't mean that the others who are doing just fine have to stay at home and buy nothing, doncha know ... LOL ...
