Donovan McNabb has been moved, but he won't need to go all the way out to Oakland. According to a report by ESPN on Sunday night, Philadelphia has agreed to deal McNabb to division rival Washington.
In exchange, the Eagles will get a 2010 second-round pick (No. 37 overall), and either a third- or fourth-round pick in '11. McNabb said he wouldn't be happy with going to the Raiders, and instead stays in the NFC East with the Redskins. McNabb makes sense for the QB have-not in the division, especially with West Coast passing guru Mike Shanahan taking over the team in the offseason.
The move leaves the Eagles with Kevin Kolb as their starter, and makes Michael Vick the backup. McNabb's addition in the Nation's Capital likely signals the end of Jason Campbell's time in Washington.
I’m in Doylestown for Easter, Mom was very pleased when she heard the news and she really doesn’t watch football, just knows the Eagles are better when someone other than McNabb is QB (she listens from the kitchen to the TV while getting dinner).
I agree w/ you, I had forgotten about McKenzie, but realistically he and LB Crabtree have shown nothing for the investment. IMHO, Tebow is intriguing, but we need DLs and LBs to help the D-Backs, then luxury items would be OL, RB, TE, WR.
In BB I trust, but I’m getting tired of the constant moving back in the draft to get players he can ‘coach up.’ From what I’ve read Weiss and Crennell had the authority to step up and make demands/criticize BB, but with them gone that’s been lacking.
The Eagles are sittin’ fat for the draft. They have a crapload of picks this year in the first few rounds.

They’ve dumped salary, they’ve dumped older and prone to injury players and now McNabb. I liked him, but he just couldn’t get over the hump and win when needed. Time to move on.
The Eagles will probably suck this year and next due to the youth movement, but given a couple of years, should be a serious contender again.
The Eagles making an intra-division trade is actually quite surprising. Should be an interesting pair of games this fall, assuming McNabb stays healthy (always a concern).
As for the Redskins, well, choking in the playoffs will be a vast improvement from where they currently are...
He wasn't helped by an offensive line he had (justifiably) zero faith in.
Me too. I can’t wait to see him on his back in the new Cowboys Stadium :)
I think the Eagles asking price for Kolb would have been a little too high.
1) McNabb never got the complete support of the vociferous and finicky Eagles fan base. From the time he got booed at the NFL Draft eleven years ago to the criticism of him not speaking up during the Rush Limbaugh and Terrell Owens controversies, many fans still hold a grudge against him.
2) The Eagles never really provided the offensive players to properly complement McNabb's skills. Imagine if McNabb had all this time top-flight receivers and running backs--the Eagles probably would have won at least two Super Bowls by now.
3) The brutal mass media in Philadelphia--especially sports talk radio station WIP--never really embraced McNabb.
In contrast, look at the Philadelphia Phillies in 2010. They are BELOVED in the city, mostly because the Phillies won the World Series in 2008, got back to the World Series in 2009 and are prohibitive favorites to get back to the World Series in 2010.
