Donovan McNabb has been moved, but he won't need to go all the way out to Oakland. According to a report by ESPN on Sunday night, Philadelphia has agreed to deal McNabb to division rival Washington.
In exchange, the Eagles will get a 2010 second-round pick (No. 37 overall), and either a third- or fourth-round pick in '11. McNabb said he wouldn't be happy with going to the Raiders, and instead stays in the NFC East with the Redskins. McNabb makes sense for the QB have-not in the division, especially with West Coast passing guru Mike Shanahan taking over the team in the offseason.
The move leaves the Eagles with Kevin Kolb as their starter, and makes Michael Vick the backup. McNabb's addition in the Nation's Capital likely signals the end of Jason Campbell's time in Washington.
And how many Lombardi trophies are in the Iggles trophy case?????
You just describe Donovan McNabb to a T.
...Redskins football is not up to par unless there’s a QB controversy...McNabb will provide that this Fall.
PS ...does it seem to you that one of Mike Shanahan’s eyes actually swells and gets bigger when he’s excited?
I hope those trophies have been keeping you warm for the last 15 years.
considering we beat lombardi in 1960 for the championship...I would say at least 1
Only the Cowboys’ ancient history counts, don’t ya know...
As a Cowboys fan, I love it. Send dead weight to the Skins, while the Beagles get no better.
The Eagles have 11 picks in the deepest draft in years.
And Kevin Kolb is deadly accurate, very smart and a born leader. He’s perfect for Reid’s offense and he’s been studying it for three years. The Eagles just got better at QB.
To quote Journey, “Keep on, believin’.” I am not concerned.
Damarcus Ware won’t care what uniform NcNabb wears.
He’s gonna chase him down and give him a good smacking!
Snyder’s going to regret this.
That’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”.
I stopped believing in McNabb 5 years ago. It’s nice to have something to look forward to again. It’s about time we got a Texan who knows something about the game playing QB. I can’t wait to see him play.
I know, I know, but at least McNabb can get out of the way of his own feet. Shipping Campbell had to happen. . .now McNabb can keep the seat warm but he knows he going to be replaced with the real answer (whoever that may be). Having to sit Campbell down or to send out feelers for other QB's just drove Campbell nuts, destroyed his confidence and created emotional havoc. McNabb comes in with about the same skill-set but has to know he's just there to fill the space. . it opens the door for whatever they want to do to finally resolve their QB issue. So, overall a positive move. Again, Shanny only has to show improvement this first year and, let's face it, the skins can only go up after two years of Zorn and 10 years of Synder-Serano mismanagement.
Yet another dumb move by the Redskins. They should have traded for Kolb.
I'm a Redskins fan and I HATE this.
As a fellow Patriots fan, I am wondering whether this trade is good for America’s true team.
With Washington not picking a QB at #4 and the Eagles not picking a QB at 2nd rd #4, does this mean Tebow slips through low enough for the Patriots to pick him up?
Or does it mean more activity at the top of the 2nd round from teams looking to get Tebow, and an opportunity for the Pats to get something good ina trade from desperate teams?
I’m not sold on Tebow, I would love to get him in the 3rd rd, but I’m fairly certain he’ll be early-mid 2nd round. What I want from the Patriots is OLB, DL, ILB and another DE/LB.
It will be fun to watch now that he's gone. He'll probably keep doing what he did in Philly. Play well enough to annoy the hell out of the home fans.
That seems to be the consensus amongst both Philly and Washington fans.
Hoo boy.
If I’m a Redskin fan, my worst nightmare is Danny signing McNabb to a ridiculous extension this week. If you get through the week without that happening, you might be okay. As a stopgap who keeps you in a playoff hunt, Donovan is fine. As long as you don’t expect anything more than that (like we did for 10 years), you won’t be disappointed.
Don’t believe what you read. Kolb was never going to be traded.
Agreed. The defense is where the Pats need help, and the defense needs help at all three levels.
The only thing that might help is that Tyrone McKenzie might finally show something, if only he can keep from gettng broken again. If he does, he’s gone. Plus, hopefully Jerod Mayo will take the next step, and I think he will.
I think that if the Pats can get some pressure on the QB, then their defensive backfield may be able to make some plays.
On offense, I think their line is good and QB will be good, but receivers and running backs are a big question mark.
But this was about McNabb...:) I have to admit, I think it would be fun to see Tebow do a five year understudy of Brady, but I don’t think that will happen...:)
