Garner vs. Roosevelt?? Has there ever been another example of the incumbent Vice President challenging the incumbent President of his own party?

No President had ever run for a third term, although some had wanted to. This was before the 22nd Amendment. FDR would not say if he would run again so Garner ran anyway, as a more conservative Democrat. Without publicly campaigning, FDR secretly undercut his rivals.
