One of the BEST gifts I received from my grandma was a 1900's style singer sewing machine that's peddle operated. I learned to sew on that machine, no power other than my feet. Americans will win. We're not done with this.

NO MATTER WHAT

That’s funny. My brother and I can do just about anything one needed to do before electricity came along including sew, crochet, make candles, spin yarn. You know all the girly stuff.

Not bad for a couple a country boys.

Oh, and we have always been stocked up. Society has a way of breaking down regionally like during floods, fires, earthquakes, snowstorms and Tornadoes.

Even the occassional riots such as in San Francisco and Los Angeles in the 90’s.

Been through em all and didn’t have to step outside for anything.

Water - check
Food - check
first aid - check
clothing - check
soap - check
shovel, axe, saw, hammer - check

stay home and use the barbuque, pretending we are camping while everyone else is going nuts - check

Lots of batteries, solar for recharging and candles for night.

Best lights to have these days are the multi position LED’s. They allow you to have as much or as little light as you need to extend battery power or Opsec.

the best ones these days are 90 lumens and can be turned down to 8 lumens.

never mind my rant, I am just leaving something for someone who might need it.

Aren't they wonderful? I just got one a few weeks ago. A Singer Red Eye. I learned to sew on a treadle too, but never learned to knit, crochet a bit, quilt at bit, can a little...wish I'd paid more attention to my grandma's gardening skills, remember marigold and castor bean plants around the perimeter to keep insects and gophers out, but that's about all.

You can still buy the crank/peddle Singer machines; they still sell them everywhere in the world where reliable electricity doesn’t exist.
