I just listened to a book on CD called Patriots by some guy names Rawles. It was basically a survivalist manual in the form of a novel. Very compelling and some decent advice.

Yep, that's the abridged version of Rawles' online novel "Triple Ought" of, oh, ten years ago. He's got some worthwhile ideas in there. BTW, he has a pretty good blog, too:

Rawles is INDEED an excellent "technical" writer, but I found his fiction to be simply unbelievable in many instances. I have a copy of Patriots for the technical info though.
I highly recommend Matt Bracken's "Enemies Foreign And Domestic"...and the books following that one. It's very believable and within the realm of what we could all imagine would happen. It's not a stretch, and because of this it tends to promote correct thinking.
