I was just talking about this the other day with my sister. I miss the hymns so much! I have several of the old hymnals and sitat the piano and sing them often!!
They are rich with meaning and depth. Something that this new songs lack, IMHO.
Oh I do love some of the new praise choruses!!! , just that the depth is in the old hymns.

There is a sense of sacredness in them that is mostly missing today. Plus, they are focusing on God, Jesus, Cross, Blood, etc.

Now most new Christian songs are about (I,me) and how I feel, how I wish How I love, I want, ... me me me centered. BIG change.
