Up date on baby Haley, her temp has remained normal, her mom and grandmom were able to hold her for a short time yesterday. She is in a lot of pain. She is still not out of the woods, but was able to follow the light with her eyes. They won’t know about any long term damage for some time to come. Hearing loss is a common problem for bacterial spinal meningitis my sister was told. I’m more worried about brain damage, because the infection reached her brain and normal efforts to bring her body temp down did not work, they ended up giving her children’s Motrin, which is a risk in it’s self, and is supposed to be a last ditch effort use.
well, I truly hope & pray that that precious little one will come out of all this healthy & normal (whatever normal is anymore!). There is a lot of scare surrounding so many things with babies..
