I would have asked Colmes to show me where in the constitution it said that anyone (racists included) can be forced by government to buy a product.

I'm not convinced that what appears to be a concerted effort (same themes, same language) is merely intended as a distraction, but that is certainly one of their goals.

The Constitutional justification being widely used on the Left for the Federal health care mandate involves both the General Welfare clause and the Commerce clause. Both claims are specious; the first because Art. 1 Sec. 8 both enumerates legislative powers and reserves all other rights to the states or the people, the second because it is a reductio ad absurdum drawn from FDR-era case law (Wickard v. Filburn), by which any activity whatsoever may be held to affect interstate commerce.
