Ricky Martin is no longer denying the rumors: He's confirming that he is gay.
In a statement on his Web site, Martin says: "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am."
The "Livin' La Vida Loca" singer's sexuality has been speculated about for years, but he's never directly addressed it and was usually seen with beautiful women.
But the singer says that writing his memoirs helped him realize that he had to be free with himself, and not keep any more secrets. His book hasn't been published yet.

Back in the early/mid '90s I drove into the lot of The Beverly Connection mall in L.A. and noticed that hundreds of frenzied teenaged (and some older) girls had converged on the place. So I rolled down my window and asked a bunch of them what was going on. They told me Ricky Martin was there signing autographs. I asked "who's Ricky Martin?" They looked at me like I was from another planet. "Hello?...the singer from Menudo?...Duh!", they said, eyeballs rolling. I responded "oh yeah, I've heard of that homo." Let's just say if they had weapons I might've died that day -- "He's NOT GAY you stupid jerk!!!..."

No surprise. The only surprise is if he thought anyone would be surprised.
You wonder though how people get so messed up along the way. None of my business. He’s a pretty good musician. I liked a couple of his songs, “Asignatura Pendiente” for one, “Tu Recuerdo” for another. Hated some of the others.
Liked him well enough nevertheless until he made it a point to disrespect GW Bush for no particular purpose.

Yep, he’s really going out on a limb now that his career’s been dead for what the last five years. He’s about as courageous as George Michael.
