I’m with Lucky. No Constitutional Convention. Compare the founders with the politicians we have. I love Sarah Palin, but I’ll pick Adams, Hamilton, Washington, Franklin etc. over her any day of the week, night and day, year after year if the task is writing a Constitution. Now compare the minute men to today’s electorate . . . I’ll pick the country with the minute men to ratify that Constitution.

The founders you mention were but a small, very small part of the convention then.

The convention must be called by the states, and must have a purpose but the convention will never pass anything, never. They are not allowed to by law.

The convention can only *propose* to the people in the countryside and suggest to local conventions what must be amended.

For example, an amendment *proposal* to repeal the 16th amendment. Would the people in the country vote to ratify that? Because if they replaced the tax code of today with a much more growth oriented, simple and corruption resistant code, then socialism would nearly die. The present tax code gives the Left their power.

For example, an amendment *proposal* to repeal the 17th amendment? This amendment has disconnected and weakened the states from the people in their state by having to bend to federal mandates; there have been non-stop unfunded federal mandates since the 17th was passed. Repealing the 17th will help reverse the centralization of power, the central command and help give people in states more local control.

A convention could propose nonsensical amendments such as ‘reparations’, guaranteed 4-day work weeks, guaranteed 1-month vacations and free health care for all. But it will never receive attention when sent back to the states and countryside for ratification. The beauty of the process is that it does not depend on population for ratification. Detroit, Cleveland and a host of blue centers of Left power will lose.

That’s why you are asked to study and not be fearful. If all else fails, and the time is right you will be educated. Look at a map of red states and red counties, and you should feel more confident of the power you hold.
